mcr: Brisbane – Lone Pine (koala sanctuary)

I had seen the pictures that Jose and Pablo had taken at this park and I thought it would be a great idea to pay it a visit. Undoubtedly it was worthwhile. Bus 445 took me from Adelaide St. in downtown Brisbane to Lone Pine on a 45min ride through some suburbs of the city. Nothing remarkable; simply residential areas. Upon arrival I paid for my entrance ticket and started probably the most exciting visit to an animal park of any type.
Bats
Cockatoos
Colourful parrots
Tasmanian devils
Many other exotic birds
Koalas, in different settings, divided by ages,
Cassowary – a large bird that can be aggressive, characterised by its hard crest .
Emu, a large bird close to the ostrich, black feathers and head just like that of a chicken but larger
Kangaroos, in a reserve, they could easily be petted, you could play with them take pictures etc.
Crocodiles
Reptiles (water lizard; taipan-the most venomous snake in the world-; python.. among other dangerous snakes)
Although each species had its interest, its attraction by itself, the most remarkable experience is holding a koala. They are very well looked after by their carers who spoil them and speak to them in a very sweet way. These marsupials, not little bears, eat only eucalyptus leaves with very low sugar content; hence they have very little energy and they tend to spend 14-16 hours/day sleeping.
